METHOD OF RESEARCH

Staff are checking Index cards, object files, and available archives in conjunction with the OSS lists and Gallery database.

3. MANCHESTER CITY GALLERIES ARCHIVES

Manchester City Galleries holds extensive archives relating to both the Fine and Decorative Art Collections. They comprise files containing provenance information and information on the artist/maker, exhibition catalogues and published books. There are also some files containing records of exhibitions, the official correspondence of the Director and minutes of City Council meetings.

Access to the Archives is still not possible as this element of the Manchester Art Gallery's Project is yet to be completed. An access policy will be announced in due course and files will be available by prior written appointment.

All enquiries by researchers should be addressed to Moira Stevenson, Deputy Director at Manchester City Galleries at the address listed at the top of the page.
