INITIAL FOCUS FOR RESEARCH

The Institute did not make any purchases before 1936. We focused our research initially on the paintings, watercolours and drawings which have now all been checked. Since then we have completed checking the sculpture and art objects in the collection.

Individual checks of curatorial dossiers and other documentation.

3. RESEARCH COMPLETED

All paintings, watercolours, drawings, sculpture and art objects have been checked. Research done by Sotheby's and Christie's has been included on this updated list.

ARCHIVES

The relevant archives held by the Barber Institute comprise the curatorial files kept for each object in the collection, which contain all known details of provenance. These include original correspondence dating from the appointment of the first Director in 1935 to the present day.
